Western Glam for NYE

By JENNY SMITH MATTFELDT Published December 30, 2024

If you’ve ever caught yourself scrolling through NFR outfit pics, you know exactly what I mean when I say western glam is everything. It’s all about mixing that rugged cowboy energy with a little sparkle and a whole lot of attitude. From fringe to conchos, animal prints to statement coats, western fashion is the perfect balance of bold and classic. And let’s not forget, New Year’s Eve is the ultimate excuse to really go all out. So, whether you’re gearing up for a night under the stars or just channeling that western glam vibe in your everyday look, I’m here for it all. Let’s dive into some of the best ways to rock this iconic style.

Concho Honchos

Conchos are one of the easiest ways to add a western vibe to any outfit, but what I love most is how versatile they are. Sure, the classic concho belt is a staple, but you can also find them on earrings, necklaces, bolo ties, & more. It’s such a fun way to get creative and add a little depth to your look.

Corset Tops

Corset tops scream Vegas western— they’re bold, flattering, and just the right amount of over the top. Pair one with some wide leg or boot cut jeans to keep the look balanced and effortlessly cool.

Hats On

Hats make the outfit— I’ve been saying that since birth. And let’s be clear, I’m talking about a real-deal cowboy hat, not those narrow ones they stick on models. That said, I’m also loving the done-up trucker hat trend lately. With patches, charms, and all the cute little details, they’re such a fun way to add personality to your look.

Statement Pants

Statement pants might not be a western staple, but they’re definitely a staple in my closet. There’s just something about pairing bold, fun pants with a simple top (or matching top) that always works. Any of these detailed jeans are guaranteed show stoppers, even down to simple stitching design on the bottom of the leg.

Sheer Material

Adding a sheer lace, pearl, or sparkly long sleeve under a jacket or big t-shirt— or even over a little tank top or bralette— is such an easy and affordable way to nail the western glam vibe. Go for black lace, and you’re channeling a gothic western feel. Opt for pearls, and it leans into a sexy, bridal-meets-bachelorette energy.

Statement Coat

A statement coat is always a classy move, no matter what your night out has in store. But on New Year’s, when staying warm is half the battle, it’s an absolute must. If you’ve got a fur coat, this is the night to break it out. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with long Pendleton coats (shoutout to my Grammi for that one), and you can never go wrong with a deep-colored wool or leather trench— it’s timeless and effortlessly chic.

Animal Print

This is your ultimate way to spice things up. Whether it’s cowhide, leopard, or snake print, these bold patterns bring a little edge to your look while feeling effortlessly chic. A cowhide bag or boots can be the perfect finishing touch, or you can go all out with a snake print jacket or leopard slip dress.

Fringe

Last but certainly not least, nothing says western glam like some fringe—it’s an absolute staple. There are so many ways to work it into your look, whether it’s with a classic fringe jacket, a shawl with fringe along the edges, or even something more subtle like beaded fringe earrings. No matter how you style it, fringe always brings the right vibe.
