The term detox bath is a bit of an exaggerated buzz word, a bath isn’t actually detoxing you, that’s your liver’s job. But the way this bath leaves you feeling completely drained, like it pulled every ounce of tension and exhaustion out of your body? Unreal. I won’t promise it’ll flush out all your toxins, but I can promise you’ll sleep like a baby afterward. The goal here isn’t to do the work for your body, it’s to support your body’s natural detox processes.

I’m not really a bath person, but I take do this soak anytime I’ve been dragging or fighting something off and need to give my body extra support. It’s also a guaranteed way to get softer skin and help heal any eczema, keratosis pilaris, or even just dry skin. This is a soaking bath, not a “get clean for the day” bath. If you need to shower, do it beforehand because you’ll want to go straight to bed after and let all the goodness soak into your skin overnight. That’s part of what makes your skin feel so incredible afterward.

JSM Signature Detox Bath

1/2 cup baking soda

1 cup epson salt

5 drops lavender and 5 drops eucalyptus essential oils (mix with the coconut oil before pouring it in, this is actually the oil combo youll find in a lot of spa diffusers)

1 scoop coconut oil

Sometimes it can be nice to swap out the plain epson salt and essential oils for one of the Dr Teal's epson salts like Sleep Soak with melatonin, lavender, and chamomile, Relax & Relief with eucalyptus and peppermint, or Restore & Replenish with pink Himalayan salt. Dr Teal's epson salts rate a 1 or 2 pretty consistently on EWG which rates personal care produts on safety when it comes to ingredients and toxins.

Have an ice water with you while you soak, trust me, you’ll need it. Most baths start to cool down after a while, but this one? You’ll be sweating. But when you step out you will be so soft, but so exhausted, and all you’ll want to do is crawl into bed. So set yourself up for the best night of sleep possible, make sure your room is nice and cool, your bed is prepped, take some magnesium, and top it off with a little castor oil in your belly button before you knock out.
