Each season lately seems to bring in a new aesthetic or two, and the next one making waves is Fisherman Core. Think coastal grandma, but with a touch more chaos. It’s like you’re in a Nancy Meyers movie, except you just woke up at the beach house with all your best friends, slightly hungover, and about to head out on the water. The look is built on easy, lived-in pieces: cozy knits, striped pajama pants, little fish accessories, and moccasins. It’s effortlessly comfortable, laid-back, and, best of all, you probably already have most of the pieces in your closet. It’s just a matter of putting them together in a new way.
Layering and Knits
Knits and layering are at the heart of Fishermancore, bringing in that perfectly undone, salt-kissed feel. Chunky wool sweaters, ribbed cardigans, and relaxed knit vests add warmth without feeling too polished, ideal for throwing on over a breezy cotton tee or a striped pajama top. Texture is everything, with worn-in denim, soft flannels, and thick, cozy scarves creating that effortless mix of practicality and comfort. The key is layering in a way that looks unbothered, like you grabbed whatever was lying around the beach house.
Functional Fabrics
The look is built on functional, time-tested fabrics that can handle some elements while still remaining cozy and cool. You'll see lots of wool and cotton, keeping you warm without being too heavy, making them perfect for layering. Accompanied by denim and canvas which will look better the longer you have them adding to that lived-in, out on the water aesthetic. You'll also see a lot of the 'pajama' pant this spring they're a light weight, loose material perfect for pulling on over a swimsuit. All of this topped off with lots of stripes, costal pastels, earthy tones, and deep navies, all inspired by the sea and sky.
Dockside Accessories
Possibly the best part of the style is the little seaside details, especially in the accessories. Layered necklaces with little metal fish charms, cozy socks with lobster designs, and beaded ankle bracelets. Even statement pieces like a beaded sardine can clutches bring in that coastal charm. Knit hats are a must, along with metal or rope bracelets that feel like something you’d pick up in a tiny harbor shop. Canvas totes round it all out—big enough to hold anything from boat snacks to flowers to farmers market finds.
